Customer Portal : Gives online support to Customers without contacting customer care. With Customer portal, a visually stunning user experience can be created for customer to solve their issues easily by themselves. User can only view their account information in this process

Partner Portal : Allows Partner Users (external organizations) to login in to Salesforce through a separate website. External Organization users can access Salesforce.com database typically for Leads and Opportunities where they can also edit the records.

13. Can we edit the standard Object and Standard Field label?
Ex: Account (standard Object) , Account Name (Standard Field).

Yes, they both can be editable. Setup > Rename Tabs & Labels > Click Accounts > Change Tab Label >  Next > Account Name (Edit Field label)

14. How can you view a particular Field access permissions for all different Record types and for all the Profiles  - View all at the same time

  • Setup > Object (Opportunity) >Fields & Relationships > Click on Field > Click button 'View Field Accessibility'

15. Where can you set up Field level security for different Profiles ?

  • We can setup field level security at two different places from 1. Fields & 2. Profiles
  • 1.Fields : Setup > Object (Opportunity) >Fields & Relationships > Click on Field > Click button 'Set Field level security' > set for different profiles at the same time
  • 2.Users > Profiles (select a profile) > Object > Field > Give Access

Note :
*Accessing from Profile would mean that Admin has to go to EACH profile to change the field accessibility for each profile
*Accessing from Field means that from that place, you can set up access to all the Profiles at one place
